On the road again! Last Friday we got picked up from our urban homestay and had a quick 3 days on the compound to do laundry and repack our bags before it was time to hit the road again for our next adventure. Where were we off to this time? Amboseli! Amboseli is a town in Kenya right next to Tanzania and at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. To say where we were was breath taking is an understatement. Every morning I walked out of my room to a view of Kilimanjaro. While in Amboseli we got to visit with different members of the community from Kenyan farmers who have moved to the area to the Maasai who have been on the land for centuries. One of the coolest parts of the trips was that we got to visit both a tourist Maasai village and a real one. The contrast between the two was unbelievable. I feel very lucky to be able to of had the opportunity to visit a real village because what typical tourist experience is nothing to like what real life is like for the Maasai. While in the village we collected water, made jewelry and even helped build a house with cow dung. We also had the chance to interview the members, again an opportunity of a life time. To top it all off I gave my final presentation on the experience during sunset by a camp fire with a snow covered Kilimanjaro in the background. I’ll never be able to sit in a real classroom again.

We took a break from school for a day to go into Amboseli national park to do some anima watching. Our day was successful as we got to see both lions and elephants up close. The elephants crossed right in front of the car. We also saw ostriches, buffalo, and hippos.

Don’t get to comfortable we are on a 9 hour bus ride today to our next classroom Mombassa, the beach! No really I am in school :)

P.s. we officially made it halfway through the program. Two months down and two to go. That is of course if I get on the plane home!

You go, girl! I am so impressed by your openness and appreciation of the new things you are seeing and experiencing. It's life changing and we need life changing right now. Thank you!
